Praying for Grace's Vision: Part Two

Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening. (1 Samuel 3:9)

The Vision Alignment Team has their first meeting this Sunday. Please join with our Daughters of the King chapter in praying for them.

At the heart, prayer is a conversation with God, both talking and listening. The talking can be difficult enough, and we may be unclear what to say or how to say it. But listening, and hearing what God has to say to us can be even harder. Having tools for guidance can help when our prayer life seems “stuck,” or when we face a challenging time when we most need God’s guidance. One tool that several of us at Grace use is the P.R.A.Y method. It may help strengthen your conversations with God.

P: PAUSE to be still, relax and settled.

R: REJOICE with a Psalm (Psalms 148; 119: 73-80; and 122 are some suggestions) and

REFLECT on a passage of scripture like the one above. Romans 12:2, James 1:5, Proverbs 3:5, and Philippians 4:6 are some other suggestions.

A: ASK God to help us during this time of decision

Y: YIELD to God’s will. Trust that, if we follow him, he will lead us where we should go.

Heavenly Father we ask that you strengthen the Alignment Team and give them wisdom. Bless their words and discussions. Help them to listen to you, and to each other. We pray the the team yields to your direction and will as they carry out their important work.

O God, because without you we are not able to please you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (BCP Proper 19, page 233)
