Reverend Ned Ford Bowersox

On behalf of Bishop Brewer, it is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of The Reverend Ned Ford Bowersox on Sunday, July 31, 2022 in Round Rock, Texas. Born December 9, 1942, in Midland, Michigan, Ned grew up in Florida where he worshiped with his family at St. David’s in Lakeland and St. James, Leesburg. He served six years in the U.S. Navy then attended Leesburg Community College (LCC) and earned a B.S. degree from Florida State University in 1969. It was in LCC that he met and married Annie. The two relocated to Alexandria, Virginia where Ned earned an M Div from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1973. Bishop William H. Folwell ordained Ned to the diaconate on May 18, 1973 and to the Priesthood on December 5, 1973. He served the next twenty-one years in Central Florida: Assistant at Grace Episcopal Church, Ocala (1973 – 1975); Vicar at Church of the New Covenant, Winter Springs (1975-1979); Rector at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Orlando (1976-1979; Rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Melbourne (1979-1994). In 1995 he accepted a call to serve in the Diocese of West Texas where he served for twelve years as the Rector at Church of the Good Shepherd in Corpus Christi (1995-2007) and three churches as Interim Rector: St. Helena’s Episcopal Church, Boerne (2000-2010); St. Mark’s Church, San Marcos (2010-2012); and St. Stephen’s, Boerne (2012) before his retirement Ned’s surviving family includes his beloved wife of 54 years, Annie, and their adult children Elizabeth and Benjamin and their families as well as his siblings, Bill, Ted, and Jill and their families. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, August 13, 2022 at St. Richard’s Episcopal Church in Round Rock, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family asks that gifts in honor of Fr. Ned Bowersox be made to Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church at P.O.
