Grace supports CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse) with Lenten collection

By Deacon Mary Delancey

Throughout Lent Gracers have the opportunity to practice the Lenten discipline of almsgiving (charity) by supporting CASA Marion. CASA is the official domestic violence center for Marion County. Their mission is to challenge the societal acceptance of all forms of Domestic Violence. CASA stands up to silence through Advocacy, Prevention, Intervention, and Support Services. Their vision is to see a world free from domestic violence. After a long absence of coordinated services for those confronted with Domestic Violence, we are grateful that CASA will now be serving the people of Marion County.

In Marion County, CASA operates the area’s 24-hour hotline and emergency shelter; Child Protective Investigative Team support; non-residential programs, such as support groups, economic empowerment, and legal advocacy; and community and corporate training, with additional services to be added soon.

The money collected by children and families in Mite Boxes will be given directly to CASA. The Adult Mite Box Calendar lists the items that the staff of CASA say they most need. You can still pick up a Mite Box or Adult Mite Box Calendar in the back of the church. Or you can access the calendar here. You may also make a monetary donation; if you write a check, make it out to the Grace Episcopal Church and put CASA Marion on the memo line.  If you have any questions, please speak to Deacon Mary.
