Lent 2024: How to Hear God by Praying the Bible

By Fr. Brian Stankich

Our Lenten study this year will help us to learn how to hear God by praying the Bible together as a community. The material is based upon a book written by pastor Pete Greig: How to Hear God. The five-week study begins February 18 and will run through March 20.

We will offer this study in three formats:

·      Sundays after the 10 AM service and coffee hour, in the Parish House, starting at 11:45.

·      Wednesdays after the Noon service in the Parish House. We will enjoy soup together during this time.

·      Wednesday evenings online at 6 PM via Zoom.

Each week we will watch a short video, have a time of discussion, and then pray together using the method known as Lectio Divina. Some of you are using the app Lectio 365, a daily devotional resource that connects you to the Lord through his Word. Lectio Divina does exactly that: connects you to God using the Word of God.

How to Hear God by Praying the Bible will bring together: the Holy Spirit, your heart and mind, the Holy Bible, brothers and sisters in Christ, wisdom from pastor Greig’s material, and wisdom from each other. We will pray together, learn together, and share together as the Lord speaks to us through his Word.

If you want to grow in your prayer life, please join us.

One day Jesus was praying...

When he finished, one of his disciples said to him,

“Lord, teach us to pray...”

Luke 11:1 (NIV)
