Our Psalm for the First Sunday of Advent is 122, one of the more than 70 psalms attributed to David. Our window featuring King David is behind the piano on the pulpit side of the altar. Stained glass church windows traditionally use symbols to tell bible stories visually in a way that can be understood even by people who cannot read. In this window David wears a crown on his head as he was a king. He holds a harp because he was a writer of songs like today's psalm. The sling and stones above are a reminder of his battle with Goliath. The six pointed star on the bottom is a hexagram made of two triangles. It is commonly called the Star of David and is the modern symbol of Judaism.
